FINALLY! After much waiting, debating, searching, and discussion, I have procured a new daily driver for myself (even though my wife says it is her car too...).
Behold! An ‘04 Lexus IS300 with ~92k miles on it.
I should be taking delivery of it later this week. I can not wait. Once I have this, I will pull the ‘96 Camry off the road, try and clean it up and fix a couple things, then it will be sold off.

Nice! One of the best cars Lexus has ever built. And IMHO, superior to its successor IS.

ohhhhh das pretty
when is the 2JZ swap happening?
![]() 08/24/2015 at 10:54 |

Wait what? 2jz Swap?

Man, I wanted to buy one of those in high school and drop a 2JZ into it. Didn’t happen because I was a poor....

ah crap, i keep forgetting.
let me elaborate: when is the 2JZ-GTE swap happening?

Ahh.. That makes more sense :)
But I think supercharger is the way to go.

SC rob power to make power.me no like...
on the other hand, the GE bottom end is strong apperently...(or so i read somewhere...) so maybe just turbo the existing block?

Is it a unicorn 5-speed?!
![]() 08/24/2015 at 11:00 |

I just love the sound of a supercharged I6 :P
Turbo the existing block should work. But why not LS9?
![]() 08/24/2015 at 11:05 |

You don’t think building back pressure to spin up a turbo robs power?
![]() 08/24/2015 at 11:05 |
|
because a sleet svelte body like that just doesnt work with the character of a big V8.
as for turbo VS supercharging....
why not both?

Twinsupercharged lysholm 2JZ-GE with a MASSIVE turbo on top.. yes please.
![]() 08/24/2015 at 11:08 |

not as much
turbos use energy otherwise LOST in exhaust.
SC steals it from the engine, and your still losing it out the exhaust
main advantage of SC is instant response, easier install. But turbos will make more power 90% of the time.

I agree. I was eying the 2nd gen IS’s for a long time, but they just don't do it for me.

I think that depends on what your goals are with forced induction. There’s a reason top fuel dragsters use superchargers instead of turbochargers.

Unfortunately not.

they also make like 10K hp, so loosing 2-400 hp on the SC isnt as big a deal for them
![]() 08/24/2015 at 11:21 |

Parasitic drag from a twinscrew supercharger on an engine is something like 2-3hp when you’re off boost. Getting rid of the air conditioner would make more of a difference.

i dont think its THAT low...other wise merc wouldnt have put in a clutch to control it on the older C32 AMG.
![]() 08/24/2015 at 11:23 |

Ah, oh well.
Nothing a W58 or V160 trans conversion can’t fix one day! ;)
![]() 08/24/2015 at 11:44 |

The C32 AMG is almost 2 decades old. There have been better advancements in supercharging technology since then.

this is also true.

Congrats! looks like a Sport Design edition as well. Very nice, any future plans?

Maybe some suspension work to stiffen everything up a little. Other than that, nothing major for now.
